Since 1996 INCOTEC has actively been involved in the development of Linux-based systems. We use Linux particularly in the areas of embedded systems and real-time systems. Linux does not only stand out as for its technical robustness but also as for its free copyability.

In industrial series manufacturing license fees are a tremendous expense factor as for each individual machine a licence appendant to it will have to be purchased. This will become particularly noticeable in the case of larger series. Here Linux can offer an advantage on two counts. This operating system is not only free of licence fees but also a multisupplier system. Neither licence costs nor being dependent on a supplier apply.
 
Apart from this strategic advantage, this operating system offers a lot of technical advantages, such as stability, an excellent networking ability and a small footprint which is beneficial to its memory and thus keeps costs low. All this makes Linux an excellent choice for industrial applications which are put under enduring conditions as for stability, network and process reliability.
